Heart of Jesus, burning furnace of charity
“Furnace of charity”. A furnace burns and, in burning, it consumes everything, be it wood or other easily combustible substances. The Heart of Jesus, the human heart of Jesus burns with love which fills it; and this is love for the eternal Father and love for mankind, for his adopted sons and daughters.
The burning furnace gradually spends itself. The Heart of Jesus, on the other hand, is an inextinguishable furnace. In this it resembles the “burning bush” in the Book of Exodus, in which God revealed himself to Moses. The bush which burned in the fire, yet…. “it was not consumed.” (Ex 3:2)
Heart of Jesus, burning furnace of charity. The furnace as it burns illuminates the darkness of the night and warms the bodies of frozen wayfarers. How the Church is gladdened by the fact that through this divine Heart, human hearts burn with love. (St Pope John Paul II)
Let us pray: The Lord Jesus has revealed the free and universal love of the Father and from his open heart flows the source of every grace and blessing.
Let us entrust our prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as we say:
Jesus, meek and humble of heart make my heart like unto Thine.
Jesus, whose heart when pierced by a lance poured forth blood and water and gave birth to your spouse the Church, cleanse and sanctify us.

Let us pray:
Grant, we pray, almighty God, that we, who glory in the Heart of your beloved Son and recall the wonders of his love for us, may be made worthy to receive an overflowing measure of grace from that fount of heavenly gifts. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
